GENERAL STATUTES
Article 1 (Duration, Denomination and Seat)
The Association is constituted for an undetermined time, adopts the title AEZA - Associação Ecologista e Zoófila de Aljezur and has its seat in Aljezur, being possible to create nucleus or delegations in other places of the country.
Article 2 (Social Objects)
AEZA is a non-profit-making organisation having no political or religious creed, whose aims and objects are the defence of the environment and the protection of animals as follows:
Rescuing and treatment wounded and sick animals and those in immediate danger.
Rescuing of maltreated animals.
Ambulatory support to maltreated animals.
Giving information of any maltreatment and irresponsible ownership of animals.
Giving assistance in prosecuting for the maltreatment of animals.
Finding new owners for abandoned and rescued animals.
Joint intervention with the authorities in respect of the laws to defend and protect animals.
Promotion of campaigns to inform the population (ie schools) about respect for, and the defence and protection of animals.
Publishing reports and objectives of the Association.
Joint pressure, with the authorities responsible, to change the laws concerning the maltreatment of animals.
Presenting projects to the authorities responsible to obtain more efficient laws and regulations and activities for the defence and protection of animals.
Researching and circulating educative information relating to the well being of animals.
At the same time and complementarily the Association could render services to the community, namely:
- Temporary shelter for animals.
- Veterinary services and campaigns for sterilization to control the animal population.
- Cleaning and hygiene services.
- Ambulance/taxi service.
Article 3 (Associates)
Anyone can be a member of the Association, singularly or collectively, for the causes in the defence of environment and well being of animals.
The members who subscribed to the notarial constitution of the Association and those who become members till the end of the first General Assembly, will be considered to be founder members.
Application for membership will be granted at Directors discretion.
Any member must subscribe to the Universal Declaration for Animal Rights.
Article 4 (Entrance Fees and Contributions)
The founding members will be obliged to pay an initial entrance fee to the value of no less than 3000$ for a single member and 10 000$ for a collective member respectively.
Any new members will pay an entrance fee, the amount to be proposed by a Director and agreed at the General Assembly.
Article 5 (Financial Resources)
The revenue of the Association will consist of:
Entrance fees and contributions from the members.
Revenue from services to the community.
Donations and other undetermined revenue.
Article 6 (Social Organs)
There will be social organs of the Association: the General Assembly, the Directors and the Fiscal Council.
Article 7 (Form of Functioning)
The composition, form and functioning of the social organs and of the Association in general will be according to the legal dispositions applicable to the non-profit-making associations and with the present statutes and further Internal General Regulations.
The alteration of Internal General Regulations will only be verified at a convened General Assembly and passed by a 2/3 majority votes.
The General Assembly must approve all the Internal General Regulations, proposed by the Directors, specified necessary to the smooth functioning of the Association.
Article 8 (Transitory Regime)
The Association will be initially directed by an Installation Committee with all the members that subscribe to the notarial constitution of the Association.
This Installation Committee will have a maximum of sixty days to convene a General Assembly with a working programme at which the election of the Social Organs and the approval of the Internal General Regulations must be made.
